Toyota Motor Corporation is a large automobile manufacturer based in Japan, and is currently the largest automaker in the world as of 2008-2009. Lexus is a division of the Toyota Motor Corporation, a subsidiary which focuses on producing luxury vehicles. Currently the luxury car brand is sold in over sixty counties across the globe, with additional exports past the year two thousand and nine expected, as the brand looks to globalise. The Lexus car was first debuted in the American market in nineteen eighty nine, and has since become the best selling high end car.
In nineteen eighty three a new flagship sedan vehicle was being planned, later becoming the very first Lexus LS, and was introduced in nineteen eighty nine, wearing the new Lexus brand name. The secret flagship car, the FI; standing for "flagship one", was first discussed in a secret meeting of top executives at Toyota. The aim was to produce a high end luxury sedan car to compete with the best. The aim was to diversify the produce range and offer a luxury car in its product line. What was born from this project was the Lexus LS 400, the very first Lexus.

Various other car types were produced under the Lexus marque, aimed at the luxury high end automobile market. SUVs, convertibles, coupes and sedans were produced by the Lexus division, and have recently launched its F marque subsidiary.
It was not until the year two thousand and three until Japan began production outside of Japan, with a new plant in Canada which manufactured the RX 330. Its manufacturing techniques have clearly been a success, winning awards for reliability of its vehicles. Within the US Lexus has been awarded fourteen consecutive awards for the most reliable brand when it came to vehicle problems and mechanical issues. Lexus has striven to produce the best quality cars, with luxury and customer satisfaction as primary aims. The Lexus slogan is The Pursuit of Perfection, and its reliability reports clearly back this ethos.
